We are sure you are wondering what it might be like to be a location scout. We mentioned we ourselves are location scouts. Ok, we have a real estate broker with us too, plus a staff of focused site representatives! When some of our staff has to dedicate themselves fully to a film project as a location scout and step away from our office, we give them a can of stress relief should they need it and ask them to write us a post card at Go For Filming.
Location scouts must on several occasions bring their bosses the kind of news they don’t want to hear! It can be tough being a location scout. It sounds idyllic and in someways it is. Out scouting cool properties after reading the “for your eyes only” script. Taking photographs of potential properties, collecting information, and permitting with the city to make it happen.
On occasion, the whole direction of the shoot may hinge on wether a location scouts can “make it happen”. Believe us when we say it can be a lot of pressure! A location scout or manager will be responsible for moving the whole film crew as an army from film location to new film location. They are responsible for finding places to film, but also places where their army of trailers can be close to camera, where to feed the crew breakfast and lunch, and where to park all the crew personal cars. Any one of those pieces of the film puzzle can change in an instant and not always in the favor of the film crew. We never want to be in the position of this here member of the empire!
