Property Owner FAQ
Get noticed! It’s a simple process. Go For Filming means exposure.
First-time visitors, please read this page carefully before submitting your property.
Filmmakers, location scouts, and movie studios peruse our properties not only in Southern California but all across the United States. You may not be in Hollywood, but it’s very likely that your state has tax incentives to bring movies to you. Filmmakers are looking for all kinds of properties, both residential and commercial, both high-end and modest. When you join Go For Filming, here’s how we promote and take care of your property….
Southern California properties will be fully represented through our location service, thus costing you nothing. Services include accounting, contracts, insurance, marketing, professional photography, and a Go For Filming site representative to protect your property during filming. We will schedule an appointment with you to go over your film ready property, take additional photographs, and give you a Listing Agreement Contract to be a part of our services. Go For Filming will negotiate with you a percentage of any future film or photo shoots profits in the Listing Agreement. If you have approved a project for dates requested by a film or photo shoot, then Go For Filming negotiates the Location Agreement between your property and the producer or film crew for you and with your input and approval always. Now you are ready to get your filming on!
Properties beyond Southern California are part of our location catalog in which we connect you directly to the filmmakers. You pay a nominal fee of $4.17 per month for two years for us to market your property and set up that first contact. Our PDF handbook will outline how you can arrange all the logistical issues.
Accounting: Are you looking for extra income, or perhaps money to cover your mortgage? It is not uncommon to make one’s mortgage during filming at your property. Some film or photo shoots last one day while others may go into a week or more. Therefore, the potential income are based on these factors. Go For Filming protects you by both collecting a security deposit and making sure you are paid in full before any film work begins or paid per the arrangements made in a Location Agreement, which may structure installment payments.
Contracts: After Go For Filming signs you up for our service, we handle all of the negotiations with film crews from start to finish. Of course, you will always have input on any points. Negotiations can involve things such as pet care, if filming overnight then hotel or other accommodations, car parking, or just about any detail that is unique to you, your family, and your property.
Insurance: In order to cover any potential damages or losses, we make sure you are covered with a bare minimum $1,000,000 insurance policy. You receive this certificate of insurance before any prep or filming begins.
Marketing: We are networked with all of the movie studios and location scouts who are searching for properties for their scripts. Your place is listed with an ID code, so when they are interested, we can begin the process of connecting them to you.
Photography: After your initial submission, we will send a professional photographer to your Southern California property to capture all the elements that appeal to filmmakers. If you live beyond Southern California, use our PDF guidelines on how to take good photos, or ask us to connect you with a local location scout to do it for a small fee.
Supervision: Properties within our location service will be provided with a trained site representative whose job is to protect your place while assisting the film crew. Some of these representatives are themselves location scout and managers. We love our staff! Most of the details of filming are planned out ahead of shooting. When any changes occur, your site rep will contact you for permissions that may not have been discussed. We do a spot check of your property before filming and after to ensure that everything is in order.
Real Estate Brokers License: We are required by the Department of Real Estate to provide professional service.
Taxes: In California, you are allowed 14 days of tax-free rentals of your primary residence. Check with your CPA or tax preparer to be sure that you qualify.
You may now continue if you understand these conditions.
